What are some of the ways the military uses shipping containers

The military normally utilizes shipping containers for storage purposes and overseas transport of armed forces equipment from parachutes, munitions, gear and deployable machinery.  Aside the obvious, conex containers have an array of applied uses that would be essential for operations. Military containers come in various sizes most often built specifically for the specialized sector.  Common sizes that are 6ft long, 8ft long and 10ft long are normally reserved for the military due to their uncommon availability and built to order status for the government.  These containers, also known as quadcons, tricons and bicons are new and cost more than a standard 20ft or 40ft container due to the special order nature.  The military also builds 20ft containers that are 8ft tall or have full open access on both sides of the container and very uncommon 10ft containers that are 8ft tall opposed to 8ft 6in tall.   Normally, mass produced shipping containers come 8ft 6in tall and 9ft 6in tall, an even 8ft tall is very uncommon and normaly requesed by the governemnt and milittary.

Buying a military container can be more difficult than buying a regular 20ft new container as an example due to the limited inventory and higher price point.  The army, navy and airforce use cargo containers that are smaller for locker storage, pharmaceutical deployment, weaponry and ammo.  Because these containers are smaller, they can be easily stackable and mobile.  Moving containers around with a smaller forklift provides quick relocation, easy access to smaller model stacking loaders and provides a small footprint for more modular units to access vertically.  Efficiancy and quick relocation is key when logistical operations need to dispatch and relocate.  Larger containers demand larger loaders and capacity that may not always be easy to move efficiently and cost effectively,

On a larger scale, longer military shipping containers can be used as a fence or perimeter reinforcement around a base.  40ft containers can house much more bulkier equipment, vehicles, drones, pallets of goods, surplus spare parts for vehicles and aircrafts alongside any other items in ear shot proximity to a military base.  The armed forces use larger containers as living spaces for offices, command facilities, gyms, control rooms, barracks and sleeping quarters.

Shipping containers can also be converted into portable commercial military  generators which provide modular energy for heavier scale operations. Other niche applications are multi-platform locker access and equipment hook-up, tooling, electrical connections and mobile data centers. Shipping containers can be used in a MOUT setting which are Military Operations in Urban Terrain for training to simulate warfare in urban environments for the armed forces.  For more information on purchasing a military container, please contact IPL Management for quotes and pricing.
